Kingstree, SC – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Buoy Dominici. Buoy passed away surrounded by his fur-ever parents on Friday, March 24, 2023.
Buoy aka “Mr. Boo” was born in Aiken, SC in 2010. He was intended to be a show dog, but the breeders realized he had two flaws that would keep him out of the show ring and his fur-ever parents, Ray & Rebecca Dominici ‘rescued’ him in 2010.
He was a pro at supervising any and all activities; ensuring he kept his parents on a strict schedule for feeding him and showing him affection (unless that meant trimming his nails) . Until Buoy lost vision in one eye, his favorite activities included traveling and ‘zoomies’.
He loved to stand over his brother and stomp his foot or huff until his brother moved from where Buoy wanted to be. A lover of blankets and sofas; Buoy could sleep anywhere as long as he could snuggle with his favorite humans. He loved any food that didn’t bite him first, but he especially loved any crumb he could ‘snoofle’ off the floor. His parents often mistook him for a vacuum cleaner; even though he detested a real vacuum cleaner because it might take away any chances of an overlooked snack.
There are too many memories to write about, but some of the most memorable ones include playing tug-of-war with Sam, the Great Dane, late brother and best friend. He also enjoyed visiting with his late cousin Tippet, a seven pound chihuahua. Buoy and Tippet’s names were both featured in a December, 2018 Garden and Gun magazine article entitled Social Chatter “Good Dogs, Great Names”. In his prime, Buoy enjoyed hiking in the mountains, chasing chickens, rabbits, and other game that showed up at the door. He once gave his parents a good scare when he jumped out a Jon boat while his humans were fishing. Luckily they had a harness and leash on him and he was able to be rescued in the deep tea-stained water. His parents immediately purchased a life jacket and curtailed his future walks near bodies of water. His most recent favorite memory is traveling out West in August of 2022 and visiting over 20 states along the way (to and from) Yellowstone.
Buoy’s family would like to thank everyone at Animal Hospital of Kingstree for their excellent care, love, and support over the past 13 years. A special thank you to Dr. Buckner, Dr. Coker, Dr. Poston, and Buoy’s favorite technician; April Hardy.
He is survived by his fur-brothers; Peanut “Buster”, Ripples, and Bao Mao. Buoy Dominici. You will be missed and your memories will remain forever.

May Buoy’s love bring you peace, and may the memories you both shared bring comfort to your broken heart.
Boo was the sweetest, funniest little meatball who had the very best of lives! It was a gift to see him one last time in Montana this past summer! Much love to you Rebbeca and Ray❤️
Praying for you in your grief. Our pups leave the biggest holes on our hearts. May he run free with his late brother and friends across the rainbow bridge.
