Ellie was rescued October 4, 2011. She passed away on February 6, 2024.
Ellie, also known as “Ellie Bellie,” loved playing with her rope and tug toy, running errands with mom, and sleeping in the entrance foyer so she could look out the glass door. She enjoyed snacking on jerky tenders!
Ellie’s mom had so many great memories with her. Some of her favorites were the time Ellie and her mom were running errands in town. She was in her usual spot in the backseat behind her. It was a beautiful day, the windows were down, and they were enjoying the day even though traffic was heavier than normal. She had stopped at a red light and as they were waiting, she noticed a change in Ellie’s behavior. She had her head completely out of the window; her tail just a wagging and dancing. Ellies mom couldn’t see anything but she heard a man’s voice. The noise in the background made it impossible to hear what he was saying. As they moved along slowly, she realized that the man on the motorcycle was intentionally keeping up with them. He was having so much fun interacting with Ellie. This lasted until they parted ways. Later that day she reflected on the encounter and it warmed her heart. In that brief moment, a man on a motorcycle and a dog who knew no strangers, bonded. Both brought laughter and joy into those few minutes. That is what defined Ellie, a mischievous, loving, and happy girl. Ellie also loved road trips, playing in the snow, playing with her brother, Riley, and keeping watch over the house on the front terrace.
Left to cherish her memory is her mom, Beth; and sibling, Riley.
