In Loving Memory of Nemo Morris
June 2008 – September 11, 2025
Forever Our Little Man 🐾❤️
In February 2009, Joe and Debbie Morris adopted a little long-haired from Blythewood Animal Hospital—a cat who would go on to capture hearts and fill their lives with joy for over 16 years. His name was Nemo, though he was also affectionately called Neemie, Nemo Mayhem, and The Little Man (a nickname from his vet, Dr. Rosemary Branson, that his family came to cherish).
Nemo lived a remarkable life. Diagnosed with renal disease eight years ago, he fought bravely and with determination, defying the odds with the help of Rosemary’s careful care, advice, and unwavering compassion. Because of her and the love of his family, Nemo thrived for years beyond his prognosis, living happily until he passed peacefully at home on September 11, 2025.
Family and Companions
Nemo shared his home with his kitty-sister Annie Belle, his official Auntie Anne Hayes, and above all, his beloved parents Joe and Debbie, who were blessed to work from home throughout his entire life—meaning Nemo’s antics, affection, and companionship filled every single day.
Favorite Toy
Nemo’s stuffed mouse, “Mousie,” was more than just a toy—it was his constant companion. For over 15 years, Mousie went everywhere with him, from hallway fetch games to long road trips. Every morning, Nemo would proudly march with Mousie in his mouth across his favorite blanket, showing the world that their bond was unshakable.
Favorite Activities
Nemo had many favorite pastimes:
- Inventive sleeping spots—from boxes to packing paper tornadoes to ladies’ purses at social gatherings.
- Marches outside with his parents to get the mail, always stopping for his signature “march on a tree.”
- Desk takeovers—insisting on lying across anything his parents immediately needed, just to be close.
- Cuddles and companionship, making sure Debbie’s hand and Joe’s arm were part of his nightly sleeping arrangement.
Favorite Food
If it had anything to do with chicken, Nemo was all in. Treats or meals, he was never far from food that satisfied his taste for it.
Favorite Memories
The Morris family has countless cherished memories of Nemo, but some shine especially bright:
- The way he slept at the top of the bed every night between his parents’ pillows, paw in hand and tail draped lovingly.
- His adoration of boxes—from newly delivered ones to the holiday storage bins he would happily climb into.
- His stubborn, sweet, and often hilarious personality that made him a one-of-a-kind companion.
Nemo truly was a once-in-a-lifetime cat—a devoted companion, a playful spirit, and a comforting presence. He leaves behind pawprints on the hearts of all who knew him, and memories that will bring both smiles and tears for years to come.
Rest peacefully, sweet Neemie.
You were family, a fighter, and above all, deeply loved. 🐾❤️
