In January 2016, at Richmond Animal Care & Control in Virginia, a sweet soul named Petey found his forever family with Sarah. From that moment, he became not just a rescue, but a beloved companion, protector, and best friend.

Petey, affectionately called Oso and PetePete, shared his home and heart with his fur siblings, Chevelle and Trina, and filled his parents’ days with joy.

He wasn’t a dog who needed much—his favorite toy was his sturdy Nylabone—but what mattered most to him was being close. Petey loved nothing more than snuggling with his mom and dad, showering them with his signature “rubbies,” and making sure they always felt his love.

At night, his favorite place to sleep was snuggled up on the couch with his fur sisters in the dog room. His favorite treat was simple yet irresistible—peanut butter, which he never turned down.

The Calhoun family will forever treasure their memories of him:

• The way he would wait faithfully at the front window for them to come home, tail wagging with excitement.
• The countless hours of snuggles, where his warmth and comfort brought peace and happiness.
• And above all, the bond they shared for nearly a decade—10 years of love, companionship, and loyalty that made him not just a pet, but a family member.

On September 29, 2025, Petey passed away, leaving behind pawprints that will never fade. His love, loyalty, and gentle spirit will remain forever in the hearts of his family.

Rest peacefully, sweet Petey.
You were the window-watcher, the snuggler, the “rubbies” giver, and above all, the heart of your family. You will be missed dearly and loved forever. 🐾❤️
