Ruby Nix was born in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2011 and spent her beautiful life bringing joy, laughter, and steady companionship to her loving family. She was deeply cherished by her devoted parents, Marbea Nix and Craig Welch, and adored by her human siblings—Meredith, Elliott, Maggie, and Max—as well as her beloved fur-sister, Daisy.
Ruby had many adorable nicknames that perfectly captured her personality: Baby Dog, Fruit Loop, Velcro, Crew Cut, and Front Door Dog. Each name held a story, a memory, and a little piece of the charm that made Ruby unforgettable.
Her days were happiest during her afternoon walk-a-bouts, exploring her world with curiosity and calm joy. At home, her favorite place to rest was under her mom’s desk with Daisy, where she felt safe, loved, and right where she belonged.
Ruby had a surprisingly unique favorite food—salad—and she enjoyed every crunchy bite as if it were a gourmet treat.
But perhaps one of her most cherished pastimes was watching the sidewalk passersby, quietly observing the world with gentle wisdom, as though she were greeting each moment with her signature Ruby grace.
Ruby lived a life full of love and gave just as much in return. She was steady, comforting, silly in all the right ways, and a constant source of joy to those lucky enough to call her family.
