Vader Smith was a loyal, gentle, deeply loved boy whose journey touched many hearts across the years and across families. His story was unique—one shaped by love, loss, and the strength of a dog who gave his whole heart to everyone who ever called him theirs.
Vader first belonged to Eric Smith, who adored him dearly. When Eric tragically passed away in 2014, Vader’s life was lovingly taken up by Cole and Myranda Smith, Eric’s brother and sister-in-law. Eventually, he found his final home with Scott and Angelique Smith, where he lived out his years surrounded by care, comfort, and endless affection. Through every chapter, Vader remained steady, loyal, and overflowing with love.
He was family to humans Preston, Ben, Noah, and Charlotte, his dog sisters Leia and Mocha. His best friend was sweet Lola, a bond that brought him joy every single day.
Vader lived for the simple things that made life good—going on walks, enjoying his food, and being close to the people he loved. If you asked Vader, the best foods in the world were treats, pork chops, whipped cream, and yogurt—and he greeted each with his trademark enthusiasm.
His favorite places were always right beside the front door, where he could keep watch, or lying next to the bed, where he felt safest and closest to his family. He had a heart made for protecting, even “guarding” his home from the trash trucks every week with great determination.
Some of Vader’s most precious memories will forever be kept close:
• The way he jumped up and down with pure joy when it was time to go outside or when snacks were near.
• How he lit up whenever Preston, Ben, or Noah came to visit—his excitement unmistakable and unmatched.
• His calm, comforting presence that made every house he lived in feel more like a home.
• His deep, complete love for everyone in his circle. He gave it freely, and fully.
Vader held on until the very end with a heart that never stopped giving. He was a constant companion, a gentle soul, a protector, and a source of joy for all who were lucky enough to love him.
Rest easy, sweet Vader.
You are reunited with your first dad, Eric, and embraced in all the love that followed you through your beautiful life.
