Bernie Mattox

🌈 In Loving Memory of Bernie Mattox 🌈
January 1, 2020 – December 26, 2025

Bernie Mattox—affectionately known as Floofy Boy, Bernie Wernie, and forever Baby Boy—was a light in the lives of everyone who knew him. Born on New Year’s Day in Blythewood, South Carolina, Bernie joined his family on March 15, 2020, and from that moment on, he filled their home with laughter, love, and unmistakable joy.

Bernie was deeply loved by his devoted parents, Dianna and Tommy Mattox, and cherished by his human siblings Aimes and Finley. He shared his world with his big brother dog Bear, and his feline siblings Mercy and Kanye, all of whom were part of the pack Bernie watched over with his big heart and playful spirit.

Bernie loved life with enthusiasm. His favorite toys were tugging ropes and flavored bones, but his favorite “job” was running the fence line every time he went outside—making sure everything (and everyone) stayed exactly where it belonged. No delivery ever went unnoticed; Bernie took his responsibility of “scaring the FedEx man” very seriously.

At heart, Bernie believed he was a tiny lap dog, and his happiest place was curled up in Mommy’s lap, soaking in every ounce of love he could get. When it came to food, sweet potatoes were his absolute favorite—proof that even the floofiest boys can have refined tastes.

One of Bernie’s most treasured memories was his first snowfall in January 2022. He raced through the yard with pure delight, jumping into snow piles, tossing clumps into the air, and living his very best life. Afterward, he came inside, ready to warm up and cuddle on the couch by the fireplace with Mom—content, tired, and perfectly happy.

Bernie was gentle, goofy, loyal, and full of personality. He brought comfort, laughter, and unconditional love to his family every single day. Though his time on earth was far too short, the impact he made will last forever.

Run free, sweet Bernie.
You will always be your family’s baby boy, loved beyond measure and missed beyond words. đŸŸđŸ’™
