Buttercup Williams was a sweet, beautiful cat who came into our lives from
a neighbor here in Sumter, South Carolina. Though she was only about a
year old and we hadn’t had her very long, she made an unforgettable place
in our hearts in such a short time. From the moment we welcomed her home,
we absolutely fell in love with her.

Buttercup passed away on Monday night, January 6, 2026, leaving behind a
quiet space that once overflowed with her warmth, love, and gentle purrs.
She adored sitting in my lap, soaking up every bit of attention she could
get, and she especially loved having her belly rubbed. Buttercup loved
sleeping with us, curling up close and purring contentedly just to be
near. That soft purr was her way of saying she felt safe, loved, and at
home.
She enjoyed her meals of Iams cat food and Sheba with gravy, but what she
truly thrived on was affection. Some of my favorite memories are simply
holding her, petting her, rubbing her little belly, and listening to her
purr. She was the sweetest little baby-so gentle, so loving-and she gave
her heart so freely.
Buttercup may have only been with us for a short time, but the love she
gave was deep and lasting. She will always be remembered for her
sweetness, her cuddles, and the comfort she brought just by being close.
Buttercup is survived by her loving parents, Randy and Mary Williams.
Run free, sweet Buttercup. You were deeply loved, and you will be missed
more than words can ever express.
