In Loving Memory of Jude Duncan
February 2010 — February 5, 2026
Jude Duncan, lovingly known as “Miss Pretty Pretty,” was a remarkable and deeply loved companion whose presence brought joy, laughter, and adventure to the lives of Todd and Wendy Duncan and all who knew her. Born in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Jude lived a life full of exploration, loyalty, and unforgettable moments.
An accomplished retriever, Jude was truly impressive, capable of performing triple retrieves and blind retrieves with ease. While she adored water retrieves, she had her own charming preferences and refused to retrieve ducks — a perfect example of her independent spirit. She loved walking beside the horse in the woods, exploring trails during hikes, and sniffing absolutely everything, whether in the forest, at home, or even during car rides. The world was meant to be discovered through her nose, and she embraced every scent with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Jude found happiness in simple pleasures: playing in the water, enjoying her favorite toys like duck dummies and her fuzzy octopus, and savoring treats such as potato chips, venison, Vienna sausages, figs, and frozen green beans. She loved visiting the family farm in Virginia, curling up in front of a warm fire as she grew older, and delighting in snowy days. Gardening time was especially special, as she would happily pick her own berries and figs straight from the plants.
Though she could be social and loving — especially with children, whom she adored — Jude also knew when she needed quiet time. When she had enough company, she would retreat to her crate and gently pull the door closed behind her, a signature moment that perfectly captured her personality.
After moving to town, Jude embraced her new adventures, enjoying walks where she gladly accepted treats, pets, and affection from new friends along the way. Wherever she went, she carried her gentle strength, intelligence, and loving spirit.
Jude shared her life with her step-sister Higgs Boson and leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, adventure, and deep companionship. Though she may have loved sleeping anywhere and everywhere, she will forever rest in the hearts of those who loved her most.
Forever loved. Forever adventurous. Forever Miss Pretty Pretty. 🐾🤍
