Moose Norris

In Loving Memory of Moose Norris
Rescued August 2015 — February 6, 2026

Moose Norris — lovingly known as MooMoo, Moo, Moosie, and MooMan — was a big-hearted soul who filled every space he entered with joy, laughter, and a little bit of unforgettable “happy chaos.” Rescued by Ella Norris from the Greenville Humane Society in August of 2015, Moose began a beautiful life surrounded by the love of his family. He spent his early years in Clemson, South Carolina, before returning home with Ella to Camden in 2019, where he continued to live a life full of love until his passing.

Moose was deeply cherished by his family — Ella, Nanny, and Papa — along with his beloved companions Nova, his black lab sister, and Noah, the little boy who was part of many of Moose’s adventures. Though he was a big dog, Moose believed with his whole heart that he was meant to be a lap dog, happily climbing onto anyone willing to give him a cuddle.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: sunshine in Nanny and Papa’s front yard, car rides, visits to Lake Hartwell, and the occasional plain hamburger from Papa. Moose had a playful personality and loved stuffed animals — especially those belonging to the kids. One favorite “toy” even included Noah’s airplane, the one Moose famously claimed as his own after Noah wouldn’t stop flying it at him.

Moose always felt it was his duty to protect the people he loved. For years, he chose to sleep in the hallway between Ella and her roommate’s doors, watching over his family. Later, when he moved back home, he upgraded his sleeping arrangements to the middle of Nanny and Papa’s king-sized bed — and truly lived the life he deserved.

He was always nearby for late-night snacks with Nanny, sharing peanut butter nabs when she couldn’t sleep, or happily catching whatever treats the kids dropped from their high chairs. But more than food or toys, Moose loved being with his people.

One of the many stories that perfectly captured Moose’s personality happened at Y Beach at Clemson. Known for running joyfully into the waves of Lake Hartwell, Moose once spotted a couple enjoying a picnic — complete with a full pizza. In a moment that became family legend, Moose proudly grabbed the entire 14-inch pizza and ran off with it dangling from his mouth, completely pleased with himself. Somehow, his sweet, gentle face always kept him out of trouble, even when his adventures brought a little mischief.

For eleven wonderful years, Moose gave his family countless memories filled with laughter, loyalty, and love. He had a way of making every moment feel brighter and every day feel fuller simply by being there.

Though Moose’s paws no longer run through the yard or along the lakeshore, the joy he brought will live on in every memory, every laugh, and every story shared about him. His family will forever remember the big dog with the even bigger heart who loved them so deeply.

Run free, sweet Moosie. Thank you for the love, the laughter, and the beautiful chaos you brought into so many lives. You will always be missed, and always be loved. 🐾🤍
