ELGIN- Bradley Roberts, 15, passed away on May 6, 2023. He became part of the Roberts family in Columbia in 2008.
Bradley, also known as “B. Rad,” enjoyed eating and playing with a laser light. He loved to sleep on top of his mom or dad. His favorite food was Rachel Ray can food and Tuna.
Bradley was dropped off at the fire station located in downtown Columbia, in a box with a bag of food and a small note saying they were not able to care for him. Melissa received a call from a friend who was a fire fighter and asked me if she could pick him up as they were not able to keep him there. She jumped in her car and drove to the fire station and this older gentleman greeted her and she said “I’m here to pick up a kitten.” He led the way and there Bradley was. He was this tiny little mouthy grey tabby kitten with a small scar above his left eye, most likely was from one of his siblings. He came home with her that day and was a part of her life for 15 years. They went through sad times and happy times throughout Melissa’s life, and he never left her side. He started getting his frail old man body and they made accommodations because going up stairs was becoming too much for him. They knew their time together was getting limited and knew he were getting tired, so they made sure to provide him with all his favorite junk foods. Bradley went on his terms, peacefully. Now he is with her parents and his siblings before. “Make sure to say hello for me. We were hoping for more time but as always there is never enough time. Bradley thank you for being a forever companion and I’m grateful that God picked me to be your mom.”
Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Melissa and Allen Roberts; dog siblings, Ginger, Zip, Daisy May; and cat siblings, Andy, Riley and Reba.
