COLUMBIA- Candie Bates passed away on April 27, 2024. Candie became part of the bates family on August 1, 2017 in Lexington, S.C.
Candie, also known as “Candie Girl” or “MonkMonk,” enjoyed playing in her dirt box, and sleeping in her hanging cube. She would run around with a hazelnut in her mouth looking for a good place to hide it from Trixie, which seemed to always be in her mom’s bed or a shoe. Her favorite food was sugar snap peas.
Left to cherish her memory are her mom, Lyndia Bates; siblings, Daniel, Dana; grandfather, Joe; and fur-siblings, Trixie, Selene, Parker, Jazzy.
Candie could always make a bad day turn into a good one. She always greeted her mom when she got home. She loved laying in her arms while she rubbed her soft little belly, scratched under her little arms and gave her foot massages. She was so loving and gentle. She was a giant piece of her mother’s heart. There is no love like the love of one of these beautiful little souls.

A beautiful tribute for your Baby girl, Candie. May she run free in the treetops as she keeps watch over her Momma who she reluctantly left behind. She will live on in your heart and memories forever. My deepest sympathies for your loss.
Oh Lyndia, You gave her so many wonderful years that most squirrels can only dream of! She will be loved and missed always but just know that she thoroughly LOVED her life and her family she was so lucky to end up with!❤️
