Butters Hickman

In Loving Memory of Butters Hickman
July 11, 2010 – January 31, 2026

Butters Hickman, lovingly known as Bubba’s, Buh-buhs, and My Sweet Girl, was a bright light whose life was filled with love, warmth, and endless affection. Born on July 11, 2010, in Elgin, South Carolina, and welcomed into her forever family on September 5, 2010, Butters quickly became a cherished and irreplaceable part of the Gagne/Hickman family.

She was deeply loved by her human parents, Donna Gagne and Chris Hickman, along with her human sisters Alex Hickman and Hunter Rorick, who adored her sweet spirit and joyful presence. Butters also shared life with many beloved siblings—her birth siblings Scooter, Oscar, Peanut, Frieda, and Moosey, her adopted dog siblings Lil Daddy, King, Moon, Rosie, Bear, and Diogee, and her feline family members Thor, Dobby, Drake, Simba, and Elsa. Her birth parents, Mattie and Truffles, gave the world a truly special soul.

Butters had a playful heart and found joy in the little things—tiny ponytail holders, sparkly craft balls, and anything she could toss into the air and chase with delight. Though bath time itself wasn’t her favorite, the after-bath zoomies were legendary, as she happily rubbed her face and body against anything she could find, celebrating her fresh start with pure excitement.

She loved basking in the sunshine, often soaking up every ray even when it made her pant with warmth. Friendly and affectionate, Butters never met a stranger and welcomed every new person with joy and love. As she grew older, she found comfort in cozy spaces—a warm heating pad on chilly days, a little couch of her own, and especially hot blankets fresh from the dryer. Above all, she loved to sleep snuggled close under a blanket beside the people she loved most.

Her family remembers her as endlessly cute, cuddly, and full of happiness. Hunter shared that Butters was “filled with sunshine, love, and warmth,” while Alex remembers her playful spirit, her snuggles with her lifelong friend and sister Rosie, and the bond she shared with her bestie brother Bear, whom she now joins in doggy heaven.

On January 31, 2026, Butters crossed the Rainbow Bridge, leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories and hearts forever touched by her gentle presence. Though she is deeply missed, her love continues to shine brightly in every memory and every warm moment she gave.

Run free, sweet Butters. Your sunshine will never fade. 🌈🐾💛
