Annabelle Ward

In Loving Memory of Annabelle Ward
Gotcha Date: Late September 2015 — March 29, 2026

Annabelle Ward, lovingly known as “Annabelle Petey,” was a gentle, resilient soul whose life was a true testament to love, second chances, and the deep bonds that can change us forever.

Though her early life was unknown, she came from a past as a breeding dog — a life that likely didn’t offer her the comfort or kindness she always deserved. But everything changed the moment she found her way to Rain Ward, her mom. It was fate. Rain had lost her own mother, Anna, in 2015, and when she saw Annabelle’s face — knowing she was next on the euthanasia list — she knew without a doubt that she had to bring her home. From that moment on, their lives were forever intertwined.

Annabelle didn’t care much for toys — perhaps because she had never known them — but she found her happiness in the simple, beautiful things: love, companionship, and comfort. She formed an unbreakable bond with her sister Sugar Bear, and the two did everything side by side. Whether curled up together under their beloved quilts — in the heat or the cold — or simply resting close, they were rarely apart. Sometimes, you’d only see a little eye peeking out from the blankets, a quiet reminder of their peaceful world together.

Annabelle had a big love for food — especially her favorite, frozen spinach — and approached every meal with enthusiasm and joy. But beyond her playful quirks, Annabelle had an incredible purpose.

She was often used by rescues as a temperament dog, trusted to help guide and comfort other animals. She was gentle, patient, and kind — especially with female dogs and puppies. Even with cats, she showed remarkable control and understanding. Her calm presence helped others feel safe, just as she made her own home feel complete.

Annabelle didn’t just find a home — she gave one. She gave love, trust, and healing in ways that words can’t fully capture. She changed lives, especially her mom’s, in the most meaningful way.

She was more than a pet — she was a soul companion, a quiet healer, and a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love.

Though her passing leaves a deep ache, her spirit remains in every memory, every quiet moment, and every life she touched.

Fly high and free, sweet Annabelle. No more pain, only peace. You are forever loved, forever missed, and forever a part of Mom’s heart. Until you meet again. 🐾🤍
