Layla Zoe Watson

In Loving Memory of Layla Zoe Watson
August 8, 2013 — June 6, 2026

Layla Zoe Watson, lovingly known as LayLay and Layla Bug, was a tiny girl with a huge personality, an even bigger appetite, and a way of making everyone around her smile.

Born in Aiken, South Carolina, Layla spent her life surrounded by love with her devoted moms, Franchesca Watson and Megan Middleton, and her beloved sibling Nyla Janelle. She quickly became the heart of the family, bringing laughter, comfort, and endless memories to those who loved her.

Layla considered herself far too sophisticated for toys. While other dogs chased balls and squeakers, Layla preferred the finer things in life — namely food. If chicken was involved, Layla was interested. In fact, one of her most legendary moments came when she was about a year old and somehow got into a takeout container of chicken bones left in the car and managed to eat every single one of them. Tiny in size but mighty in appetite, Layla kept her family on their toes from the very beginning.

As she grew older, Layla developed quite the personality. She became very vocal about her opinions, especially if someone dared to interrupt one of her naps. She had perfected the art of letting everyone know exactly how she felt and wasn’t shy about expressing it.

Her favorite place to sleep was anywhere except the bed that was actually meant for her. Whether it was Mom’s bed, the couch, or any cozy spot she deemed acceptable, Layla always found the perfect place to settle in.

One of the family’s most treasured memories happened on Christmas Day 2024. For reasons known only to Layla, she decided it was the perfect day to play a game of “catch me if you can.” Franchesca and her sister—who was nine months pregnant at the time—spent what felt like forever chasing Layla around the family property, around the house, and even into the neighbor’s yard. Every time they thought they had her cornered, Layla would dart away and cross them up like a seasoned basketball player. By the end of the adventure, everyone was exhausted, and the joke became that Layla nearly helped induce labor that day.

Layla’s life was filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. She had a way of making ordinary days extraordinary simply by being herself. Whether she was begging for chicken, protesting a disturbed nap, or turning a simple walk into a family chase scene, she left a mark on every heart she touched.

Though the house feels quieter without her, the memories she created will continue to bring smiles and laughter for years to come.

Run free, sweet LayLay. May there be endless chicken, cozy beds, and no one interrupting your naps. Thank you for the joy, the laughter, and the love. You will always be missed and forever cherished. 🐾🤍
