In Loving Memory of Sable
August 2003 – June 28, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved cat, Sable, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 28, 2026, at the remarkable age of 22 years and 10 months.
Born in Buchanan County, Virginia, Sable’s story spanned nearly twenty-three wonderful years. Affectionately known as Pretty Girl and Sable-Lee-Poo, she was a cherished member of the Childress family and brought comfort, companionship, and laughter to all who knew her.
Sable was lovingly cared for by her parents, Michael and Leigha Childress, and shared her home with her pet siblings, Stripes, Dixie, and her late companion, Frosty Bear. She also had five human siblings whom she loved dearly and, as only a cat can, lovingly tolerated.
One of Sable’s favorite pastimes was playing “bouncing spider” with her dad. When she wasn’t playing, she could often be found enjoying one of her many cat naps. She loved nothing more than curling up in a comfy bed beside her parents or resting peacefully on her mom’s lap. And if there was tuna involved, Sable was especially happy.
For nearly twenty-three years, Sable filled her family’s home with love, warmth, and the quiet comfort that only a faithful feline companion can provide. Her gentle presence, sweet personality, and the countless memories she created will be treasured forever.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Sable lived a long, beautiful life surrounded by love. We will miss our Pretty Girl and Sable-Lee-Poo every day and will forever be grateful for the joy she brought into our lives.
Until we meet again, sweet Sable, rest peacefully. You will always be loved, forever remembered, and deeply missed.
