In Loving Memory of Sweet Pea Lankford
Gotcha Day: 2021 — June 9, 2026
Sweet Pea Lankford was a precious little girl whose gentle heart and unconditional love made every day brighter for those who knew her.
Rescued in 2021 in South Carolina, Sweet Pea found exactly where she belonged—with her devoted mom, Janice Lankford. The day Janice saved her became the beginning of a beautiful bond that would forever change both of their lives. It remained one of Janice’s most treasured memories, a reminder that sometimes the ones we rescue end up rescuing us right back.
Sweet Pea was full of love and affection. If you were nearby, chances were she was giving you kisses. Licking was one of her favorite ways to show just how much she cared, and she never missed an opportunity to shower her family with love.
She adored anything that squeaked, happily entertaining herself with her favorite toys, and when it was time to rest, her favorite place was tucked safely away in the bedroom closet, where she could curl up and sleep peacefully.
When it came to food, Sweet Pea wasn’t picky in the slightest. Simply put, she loved all food, and every meal was something to celebrate.
Sweet Pea shared a special bond with her beloved sister, Sassy. Their lives were intertwined, and in a touching testament to that bond, they crossed the Rainbow Bridge together on June 9, 2026. Though their family’s hearts were broken by such an unimaginable loss, there is comfort in knowing the two sisters remain side by side, just as they were meant to be.
Sweet Pea’s life may have been measured in years, but the love she gave will be measured forever. Her gentle spirit, loving kisses, and grateful heart left pawprints that time will never erase.
Run free, sweet Sweet Pea. Reunited with Sassy, may your days be filled with endless squeaky toys, cozy naps, delicious treats, and all the love you gave so freely. Thank you for choosing your family and allowing them to love you. You will always be cherished, forever missed, and never forgotten. 🐾🤍
