Sassy Lankford

In Loving Memory of Sassy Lankford
December 7, 2012 — June 9, 2026

Sassy Lankford, lovingly known as Sassafras, was a faithful companion whose loving heart, playful spirit, and unwavering devotion made her an irreplaceable part of her family’s life.

Born in Elgin, South Carolina, Sassy was deeply loved by Janice Lankford and the late Barry Lankford. She shared a beautiful bond with her beloved sister, Sweet Pea, and together they brought endless joy, comfort, and laughter to their family. Their connection was so strong that they crossed the Rainbow Bridge together on June 9, 2026, forever side by side.

Sassy loved life’s simple pleasures. She never turned down a game of tug-of-war with her favorite rope, although everyone knew her greatest hobby was simply eating. If chicken was on the menu, Sassy was always first in line and more than happy to remind everyone it was her favorite.

When the day came to an end, there was only one place she truly wanted to be—sleeping beside Mom. Being close to Janice was where Sassy felt safest, and the quiet moments they shared together became some of life’s greatest treasures.

Sassy also loved traveling with her family. Whether they were making memories in Alabama or exploring the beautiful mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, she was happiest simply being part of every adventure. It wasn’t the destination that mattered—it was being with the people she loved.

Sassy’s life was filled with unconditional love, loyalty, and countless happy moments. She had a way of making every day brighter simply by being there, and her gentle presence brought comfort to everyone around her.

Though the loss of both Sassy and Sweet Pea on the same day leaves an unimaginable emptiness, there is peace in knowing the two sisters continue their journey together, just as they lived their lives—with one another.

Run free, sweet Sassafras. Reunited with Sweet Pea, may there be endless fields to explore, plenty of chicken to enjoy, tug-of-war games to play, and peaceful nights resting side by side. Thank you for every memory, every adventure, and every ounce of love you gave. You will always be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten. 🐾🤍
