In Loving Memory of Skipper Serio
June 18, 2015 — September 21, 2026
Skipper Serio, lovingly known as Skipper-Dipper, Gipper, Flipper, Dipper-Doo, and Skipperdee-Dipper, was an adventurous, gentle boy who lived a life filled with love. Born in Summerton, South Carolina, and raised in Charleston, Skipper was deeply cherished by his mom Sadie, dad Jesse, grandma Lisa, grandpa Sal, and aunt Lily.
Skipper shared his life with Bourbon, Gruyere, Pepperjack, MeowMeow, Miso, and his favorite chicken, Cashew. He was an especially wonderful big brother to Bourbon, always gentle with her when she was a puppy. He loved his alligator, rubber skull bone, and a favorite stick that his family has saved to keep forever.
Skipper was happiest when he was on an adventure with his people. He loved car rides, hiking, swimming, side-by-side rides, feeding the horses, visiting Grandma, and trips to Kiawah Island beach, where he would dig holes in the sand, swim, and enjoy every minute. He even joined Sadie on a month-long backpacking trip, somehow squeezing his nearly 100-pound body into her sleeping bag each night to cuddle.
He loved food almost as much as adventure. Scrambled eggs and pancakes were favorites, and Sadie would even make him his own little baby pancakes. He faithfully supervised from the kitchen floor while she cooked, ready to “vacuum” up anything that happened to fall. Even the paper pup-cup container occasionally became part of the snack!
Some of the sweetest memories began the day Skipper came home as a secret puppy. Sadie and Lily waited for Lisa to open the door before letting him run up to surprise her. From that special beginning came more than eleven years of beach days, hikes, cuddles, his famous “spin,” and car rides spent howling along to his favorite songs.
Skipper lived fully and loved deeply. Whether curled beside his mom in bed, stretched out in his sunny spot, or heading off on another adventure, he was happiest simply being with the people he loved.
His family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gerard and Mrs. Lois for the extraordinary love and care they gave Skipper during his final months. Their kindness, dedication, and willingness to be there week after week meant more than words can express. They cared for Skipper as though he were their own, and that compassion will never be forgotten.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever Sadie’s Skipper-Dipper and the very best adventure buddy. 🐾🤍
