Gilby Lee Fitzpatrick

In Loving Memory of Gilby Lee Fitzpatrick

May 21, 2019 — October 3, 2026

Gilby Lee Fitzpatrick, affectionately known as “Mr. Gilby Lee” and “You Ol’ Galoot,” was a sweet Southern gentleman with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. On May 2, 2026, Gilby Lee found his forever home with the Fitzpatrick family of Blythewood, South Carolina, after being adopted from the Thiel Meyer Adoption Center. Though his time with his family was far too short, the love he brought into their lives was immeasurable.

Gilby Lee shared his home with his two beautiful redheaded sisters, Siobhan and Molly. He especially enjoyed antagonizing Molly, chasing lizards, taking walks with his family, and following his dad wherever he went. His favorite toy was a large chew rope that he proudly carried through the house like a cigar, while Dad would call out, “He has his Seegar!”

Being a true Southern gentleman, Gilby Lee loved his grits and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Shortly after joining the family, he celebrated his seventh birthday with hot dogs, peanut butter crackers, roasted peanuts, and birthday cake. And, of course, he chose the cake first!

Some of the family’s sweetest memories were made during mealtime, when Gilby Lee and Molly would sing at the top of their voices alongside Dad to “How Much Is That Doggie in the Window?” He also took his evening cookie patrol very seriously, making sure no treat was forgotten.

But what made Gilby Lee truly special was his quiet devotion to his dad. Each morning, he would come over and gently rest his chin on Dad’s lap, beginning another day together. He loved keeping Dad close, following him throughout the house, and sleeping in his own bed right beside him. Those simple moments of companionship became some of the most precious memories of all.

Gilby Lee may have only been part of the Fitzpatrick family for five short months, but he found a lifetime of love in that time. He was given a home, a family, and a dad to adore, and in return, he gave them a love they will carry forever.

Forever loved. Sorely missed. Forever their sweet Mr. Gilby Lee.

God bless you, Gilby Lee. 🐾🤍
