August 2011 – October 8, 2026
Rue Rue • Rudy Doo • Best Dog Ever
Rue came into Robin’s life in St. Louis, Missouri, in August 2011, and for the next 15 years, she lived by one very simple philosophy: Life is better with a ball.
Her favorite toy? A ball. Her favorite activity? More ball. Her favorite place? Anywhere someone was willing to throw a ball. And her favorite memories? Ballin’ on the beach, of course.
Despite what you might expect, her favorite food was not actually a ball. Probably meat, although she wasn’t much of a foodie. Frankly, food was just something she tolerated between games of fetch.
When she wasn’t busy pursuing her life’s greatest passion, Rue could be found sleeping in her favorite spot—wedged between Jodi’s legs, whether Jodi found that comfortable or not. Personal space was negotiable. Rue’s happiness was not.
Rue was endlessly loved by her moms, Robin and Jodi; her furry siblings, Scout and Ryder (who passed before her); and her three little humans, Shiloh (6), Sawyer (3), and Wilder (6 months).
She gave the family 15 years of laughter, unconditional love, muddy paws, sandy beaches, and approximately a million requests to throw the ball just one more time.
On October 8, 2026, we unexpectedly said goodbye to our beautiful girl. And in a way that was so heartbreakingly Rue, she left this world doing exactly what she loved most—playing ball.
Our hearts are broken, and our home will never quite feel the same without her. But there is something beautiful about knowing that her very last moments were spent doing what had brought her so much joy throughout her life.
If love alone could have kept her here, she would have lived forever.
And if we could have one more moment with her, we’d spend it doing exactly what she loved most.
We’d throw the ball one more time.
Run free, Rue Rue. We hope wherever you are, the beach goes on forever, the balls are endless, and nobody ever tells you it’s time to stop playing.
Forever our Rue Rue. Forever the Best Dog Ever.
