ELGIN- Nala Bass, Police K-9 for the Elgin Police Department, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2021. A funeral service will be held December 10, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at Peaceful Paws Mortuary & Crematory.
Nala was trained by Chris Deliyannis at Florida State K-9. She joined the Elgin PD in 2017 and retired on December 6, 2021 due to cancer. Nala enjoyed working with the Elgin PD, especially searching for dope. Her favorite toy was a tennis ball and loved peanut butter. Her favorite activity was sleeping on the couch.
Left to cherish her memory are her handler, Randy Bass (Addison Mosier); and fur-siblings, Oakley, a bloodhound at Elgin PD, and Ellie May, a Yorkie.
