ROCK HILL- Toby James Player passed away on May 3, 2023. Toby became part of the Player family on May 13, 2013, in Camden, S.C.
Toby, also known as “Mama’s Boy,” Booger,” Toby Tob,” “Big T,” and “Big Boy,” enjoyed walking and laying on the porch. His favorite place to sleep was with Thomas and his favorite toys were his Stuffed Reindeer, which he had 6 of, and his hedgehog. He loved to eat Chico Sticks and string cheese.
Since the first day they got Toby, their hearts have been full of love for their sweet boy. They would take him on walks all over town and he would walk about 5 to 6 miles daily with his mom. Every time someone would walk in the door his sweet tail would wag. During COVID, Toby loved to sit with Whitney and attend her zoom classes with her. He also loved walking around Winthrop University.
Some of the best memories are going to the Pet Store in Rockhill and the people there who loved him, Toby especially loved Alvin and Kimmy. At the pet store, Toby would lay on the floor and greet everyone who came in.
Left to cherish his memories are his mom, Carol Player; and siblings, Thomas Davis, Whitney Player Byrd and Caleb Byrd.
“As Toby’s Mom, everyday that I got to spend with him was a gift. He was my sweet little boy. Toby was and always will be in my heart. My life is so empty without my sweet baby. The best memories are sitting on the porch and the yard with him.”

Toby we loved you here in Camden also. You sure loved our Nova and she sure loved you too. Walking with your mama you always knew to stop where Nova lived Wish we could have seen you last couple years. You will truly be missed by all and your mama loved you so. I won’t ever forget you either
I loved going over to Momma’s to see her and Toby. He was such a cuddle bug, with a big heart. I would always smile huge seeing Toby even on campus. I remember one day when I lived on campus, I heard Momma’s voice and looked out my window to see her walking Toby around. Those were the best days.
We loved Toby so much! He would visit every day to see his girlfriend Nova and share treats. He was the sweetest pup and he sure loved his Mama! Toby was spoiled rotten and deserved every bit of it. We will miss him! ❤️

Carol we will miss sweet Toby also. nova sure loved him too. She would get so excited when y’all would stop by. Toby was a good good buddy to you. I would see you and her walking everyday. I know you miss her so. We loved him too
He was my best friend and I am so lost without him. I miss him more than I can express, but I know he is in heaven watching over us. I love you Toby James Player.
