Layla “MooBear” Meyers

ELGIN- Layla Meyers passed away on July 22, 2023. Layla was adopted in 2010 from the Two Notch Road Animal Clinic.

Layla, also known as “MooBear,” “Princess Layla” or “Moo,” enjoyed “Sunning Her Buns” in the yard. She did this by finding the warmest spot in the yard to bird watch and guard the neighborhood. Of course, in typical Boxer fashion the temperature had to be just right…not too hot or too cold! When she was finished she would signal her mom by rolling around in the grass and kicking up her legs. Her favorite toy was Hedgie her squeaky hedgehog. Layla never destroyed her toys and kept Hedgie in perfect condition for 13 years. She loved it when someone would hide Hedgie somewhere in the house and she could play “Find Hedgie”. She never lost a game! There was nowhere that you could hide her hedgehog that she would not find it!

Moo’s two favorite foods were cheese and french fries! She could smell a piece of cheese being unwrapped on the other side of the house. She could also recognize a Chick-fil-A bag. She always knew there would be a waffle fry or two in the bottom of the bag for her. She loved to sleep anywhere momma was! She would scoot her favorite black and white blanket throughout the house to nap wherever she wanted. If mom was not home, she would camp in the hallway just outside her brother Josef’s room. At night, Layla demanded to be in mom’s room at 6:30 every evening because that was her quiet time and she gave stern looks and groans of disapproval to whoever came in with too much conversation after that time. She loved falling asleep to Native American Flute music or Thunder Storm Sounds.

The Meyers family had thirteen years of beautiful memories with Layla. They will miss her ability to “tell” you what was on her mind. It was often that they would have a “conversation” with Moo about her outside time or her late breakfast. Layla enjoyed her favorite black and white blanket. Occasionally, she would be a good big sister and allow her puppy brother Smokey to nap with her. Layla loved her blanket freshly washed. She would stand in the laundry room waiting for her warm blanket seconds out of the dryer. Princess Layla “MooBear” Meyers is greatly missed. Her family will remember her ALWAYS! ❤️

Left to cherish her memory are her mom C. LaShawn Meyers; brother, Josef; and fur-brother, Smokey.
