Brody Erickson

COLUMBIA- Brody passed away August 25, 2023. He was born in October of 2009 and was adopted by his dad from East Tennessee Border Collie Rescue in August, 2010.

When Brody wasn’t sleeping, he was usually running around the backyard all day long. He also loved playing fetch with his toys, he had over 10 different toys in his dad’s bedroom and he knew the names of every single one of them. When his dad would say “where’s your chicken?” He would go nuts looking for it until he found it!

Brody loved to nap in his hole outside that he dug years ago, but when he was inside, he was napping beside his dad’s bed. He was never interested in sleeping on the bed.

Although Brody was never really enticed with food, he LOVED any kind of cold treat. He and his dad would share a popsicle every single night. Additionally, he loved carrot cake and his dad would usually give him the crumbs.

He wasn’t crazy about riding in cars (because his dad only owned convertibles, he purposely bought leashes that would latch into the seat belt, but he NEVER had to worry about him jumping out of the car because he stayed hunkered down on the passenger-side floorboard!).  His dad took him to Myrtle Beach a couple of times, but he had NO INTEREST in the water – he’d go right to the edge of the surf and just lay down on the wet sand!  During the day, Brody insisted on being outside… unless it was raining HARD, then he’d come in if his dad asked if he wanted to come in.  At night, as mentioned, he preferred to be inside.  Something to note:  His dad has slept in a waterbed and has for over 50 years now.  He’s had SEVERAL dogs in his 73 years and Brody is the FIRST dog that He’s EVER had that took to the bed IMMEDIATELY with NO hesitation – he just jumped up when he called him up the first time & made himself right at home (EVERY other dog would jump up when called & then jump right back off their first time on the waterbed!).

Left to Cherish his memory is his dad, Eric.

  1. My thanks to Peaceful Paws Mortuary & Crematory!!! Not only did they make themselves available in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, but they more than met my expectations for an expeditious & reverential cremation of my best friend, Brody!!!
I didn’t have need of a nice urn because I fully intend to scatter Brody’s remains in one of his favorite spots in the back yard, but the wooden box they supplied with his remains inside is VERY nice & I will use it to contain Brody’s collar & all the rabies tags that I’ve accumulated over his 13 years with me. Additionally, the facility supplied me with a plaster casting of one of his paws (I “believe” it is of his right front paw) with his name stamped on it — a really nice touch!
