In Loving Memory of Marley Chavis
June 17, 2010 — April 17, 2026
Marley Chavis, lovingly known as Marley Bear, was a faithful companion, a family favorite, and a source of unconditional love for nearly sixteen wonderful years.
Born in Elgin, South Carolina, Marley was deeply cherished by her parents, Kelly and Shay Chavis, and adored by her human brothers, Conner and Corbin. She wasn’t just a family pet — she was part of every adventure, every routine, and every cherished memory.

Marley loved life’s simple pleasures. Whether she was chasing a laser pointer, carrying around a tennis ball, or enjoying one of her beloved car rides, she found joy in every day. Riding with Mom was one of her favorite things in the world. She faithfully accompanied Kelly on school pick-ups, errands, and trips around town. The teachers and students looked forward to seeing Marley, and she soaked up every bit of attention and affection they offered.

Drive-thrus were always exciting because Marley knew there was a chance for a treat. She especially loved visiting the pharmacy, where Ms. Wendy at Hawthorne’s always had a special snack waiting for her. Marley never forgot.
Food was one of her greatest loves. She wasn’t picky and happily accepted anything she could get. She had a way of resting her head on your lap and staring at your food so sweetly that sharing felt inevitable. Pup cups were always a favorite treat, and every birthday was celebrated with a special homemade treat and a family rendition of “Happy Birthday.”

When it was time to rest, Marley was happiest on the floor beside her family’s bed or curled up in her dog bed in the living room. She always wanted to be close to the people she loved.
Some of the family’s most treasured memories are the little things that made Marley uniquely her. Her brothers loved the kisses, tummy tickles, and hugs she shared so freely. They loved coming home to find her waiting at the door, her little nub tail wagging with excitement. Kelly will forever miss the way Marley would nudge her nose under a hand, insisting on pets until she was completely satisfied, especially when she got her favorite ear rubs. Shay will miss her loyal companionship in the garage, where she would quietly lay nearby just to keep him company.

Marley joined the family on every camping trip, every errand, every celebration, and every ordinary day in between. She made life’s moments sweeter simply by being there.
Though her paws no longer greet her family at the door, her love remains woven into every memory and every corner of the home she shared with them.
Run free, sweet Marley Bear. Thank you for the kisses, the car rides, the tail wags, and the unconditional love. You will forever be a treasured part of your family’s story. 🐾🤍
