Genevieve Bogstad, lovingly known as Genni and GenaBooooty!, was a sweet and faithful companion whose gentle presence brought comfort, joy, and unconditional love for more than eighteen wonderful years.
Born in McClellanville, South Carolina, Genevieve entered LeAnne Bogstad’s life as the most precious surprise—a birthday gift from her daughter, Caroline. From that very first day, Genni became so much more than a pet. She became a constant source of love, a trusted companion, and a steady presence through life’s many changes and challenges.
Genevieve shared her home with her siblings Maxx and Chloe, but she always held a special place as Mom’s devoted shadow. She loved the simple routines they shared together, especially her daily shower time with Mom and relaxing while listening to spa music or Sunday hymns. Those quiet moments became cherished traditions that brought comfort to them both.
Genni had a playful side, too. She adored sparkly Christmas decorations and had a particular fascination with Q-Tips, turning ordinary household items into treasured toys. Christmas was one of her favorite times of year. While LeAnne wrapped gifts late into the night on Christmas Eve, Genni would happily “help” by batting around wrapping paper, ribbons, and shiny trimmings, making the season even more magical.
Her favorite place to sleep was nestled in a cozy box lined with the fluffiest blankets, surrounded by familiar sounds and the warmth of home. And when it came to food, nothing made her happier than chicken in any form.
But Genevieve’s greatest gift was simply being there. Through every season of life, every joy and every hardship, she remained by LeAnne’s side with unwavering love and loyalty. Her gentle spirit brought peace, her companionship brought comfort, and her love left a mark that can never be erased.
Though her family’s hearts ache in her absence, they find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and in the hope of being reunited one day.
“She was the sweetest gift ever, and I can’t wait to see her when I get to Heaven. I do believe she will be there waiting on me. Until I see you again, Genni… You are always loved and remembered.”
Run free, sweet GenaBooooty. May there be endless fluffy blankets, beautiful music, sparkly decorations, and all the chicken your heart desires. You were deeply loved, and you will be forever missed. 🐾🤍🐱

Oh LeAnne and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your kitty. While I never had the pleasure of meeting Genevieve, I now know how special she was from your beautiful obituary. I am reminded of the loss of my own 18 year old shadow, Kitiara. We were blessed by God to care for and bond with them and all our other precious pets. I hope Genni has met Kitti in heaven and they play together as they wait for us to join them someday soon. I love you, LeAnne, and my heart breaks for you and your family.
