n Loving Memory of Doodle “Bug” Mozingo
April 21, 2008 — July 20, 2026
Some souls come into our lives at exactly the moment we need them most. Doodle “Bug” Mozingo was one of those rare gifts.
Born on April 21, 2008, Bug transformed a day that had long carried sorrow for her family. April 21 had always marked the heartbreaking anniversary of the loss of her mama’s grandparents. But God, in His perfect timing, brought Bug into the world on that very day, replacing grief with hope and giving her family a new reason to celebrate. From that moment on, April 21 became a day filled not only with remembrance, but with thanksgiving for the precious little Chi Apso who would forever change their lives.
Although her full name was Doodlebug, everyone simply called her Bug—except when she was about to get herself into trouble. Then it was always “Doodlebug,” and somehow she seemed to know exactly why.
Bug was the beloved soulmate of her human mama, Teresa Mozingo, and was deeply loved by Betsey McDowell Rogers, Randall Mozingo, Trey Mozingo, and Laci Grace. She also shared her life with her faithful best friend and cuddle buddy, Chuey Louis, a funny little Schnoodle, along with her other furry family members, Beagie, the Beagle, and Sanford, the lovable American Bulldog mix affectionately known as Fred Sanford the Junkyard Dog.
Bug wasn’t much for toys. In fact, she only ever truly loved two when she was young. But her favorite game didn’t require a toy at all—it was tossing a single piece of kibble into the air and entertaining everyone by happily batting it around. She could turn the simplest things into the greatest fun.
She had very particular tastes when it came to food. Hamburgers, Vienna sausages, meats, and vegetables were always welcome. But if anyone dared offer her rice, potatoes, or bread, Bug would flash a look that clearly said, “Have you completely lost your mind?” And if someone accidentally left a glass of sweet Southern iced tea within reach, it was fair game. She especially enjoyed sneaking sips whenever her son-in-law walked away from his glass. She also knew exactly where the veterinarian’s treats were kept and wasn’t shy about asking for them.
Above all else, Bug wanted to be with her mama. Their bond was something truly extraordinary. They were soulmates in every sense of the word. Wherever Teresa was, Bug wanted to be. If her mama wasn’t home, Bug wouldn’t eat or drink. In her later years, her favorite place became Mama’s bed. When she decided it was bedtime, she would trot back and forth, looking at Teresa as if to say, “Come on, Mama. It’s time.” She wouldn’t settle until they were together.
Bug had an incredible gift for knowing exactly when comfort was needed. She offered love without conditions, loyalty without limits, and companionship that never wavered. She filled her home with laughter, warmth, and a kind of peace that only a once-in-a-lifetime companion can bring.
One of the hardest chapters of their story came near the end, when both Bug and her beloved mama were facing terminal cancer at the same time. Even through illness, their love for one another never faltered. They continued to comfort each other, proving that the deepest bonds are never broken—not even by life’s greatest trials.
On the early morning of July 20, 2026, Bug quietly crossed into God’s beautiful meadow, where pain no longer exists and joy is everlasting. Though Teresa’s heart is shattered by the loss of her faithful companion, it is also forever grateful for the incredible blessing of having shared life with this tiny little furball of unconditional love.
Bug wasn’t “just a dog.” She was family. She was comfort during heartache, laughter during ordinary days, and unwavering love through every season of life. Her pawprints are forever etched on the hearts of those who loved her, and her memory will continue to bring smiles even through tears.
Run free, sweet Bug. May God’s meadow be filled with endless sunshine, tasty hamburgers, Vienna sausages, Vet Dog treats, pieces of kibble to toss and chase, and all the sweet tea your little heart desires. Thank you for turning sorrow into joy, for loving your mama with your whole heart, and for reminding us what unconditional love truly looks like. Until the day you’re reunited, you will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever cherished. 🐾🤍
