In Loving Memory of Selene Bates
Gotcha Day: September 11, 2018 — August 13, 2026
Selene Bates, lovingly known as Beautiful Girl and Sweet Girl, was a special little squirrel whose unique personality brought so much happiness to her mother, Lyndia, and her entire family. Welcomed into her home in Lexington, South Carolina, Selene quickly became much more than a pet—she became a cherished member of the family.
Selene shared her life with her pet siblings Ruby, Sable, and Parker, along with her human family, Dana, Daniel, and her grandfather Joe. She loved boxes, stuffies, and especially playing with a big leaf of kale. Her days were happily spent running, digging, hiding nuts, and exploring, while her cozy wooden house was her favorite place to sleep. And when it came to food, avocado was always a favorite.

Some of Lyndia’s sweetest memories go back to Selene’s baby days. She was incredibly demanding when it came to her formula and simply could not wait to be fed. She also loved hiding in Lyndia’s housecoat pocket, happily snacking on a Henry’s Block while tucked safely inside.
As Selene grew, that determined little baby became an independent, confident, curious, and focused girl. She knew what she wanted and approached life with a personality all her own.
From the tiny baby hiding in Mom’s pocket to the beautiful, independent girl she became, Selene gave her family eight years of memories that will always be treasured. Her little wooden house may now be quiet, but the love and joy she brought into her family’s lives will remain forever.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever Lyndia’s Beautiful Girl. 🐿️🤍
