In Loving Memory of Pops Barber

Pops Barber, lovingly known as Pops, Poppy, and Poppy Chulo, was a little dog with a huge personality and an even bigger place in the hearts of his family. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Pops chose Torrance and Takisha from the very beginning. With his adorable little old-man face and the softest black hair, it didn’t take long for them to realize their lives would revolve around making their sweet boy happy.
In fact, after bringing Pops home to their apartment, they quickly decided he deserved more room. Eventually, they bought their first house so Pops could have a yard of his own to run and play in—a perfect example of just how loved he was.
Pops loved his tug-of-war rope, running as fast as he could in circles, hopping high into the air, and chasing his family around the kitchen. He was small but fierce and took his job as protector very seriously, barking at anything he thought might threaten the people he loved. He also provided plenty of laughs, from sliding across the floors to tumbling down the stairs as a puppy while learning how they worked—and somehow sticking the landing at the bottom.
He adored his siblings, Brendan and Brielle, and was the very best doggie brother to Bren and Brie. Pops loved children, happily accepted all the rubs they could give, and followed his favorite people everywhere. Even Auntie Fee received his own special version of affection with his unforgettable leg scratches.
After a full day, Pops could settle into his comfortable plush bed and enjoy his favorite chicken and sweet potato treats. For more than 16 years, he filled his family’s home with laughter, loyalty, protection, and unconditional love.
Pops truly blessed his family with his presence, and the little dog who chose them all those years ago will forever hold a very big piece of their hearts.
