In Loving Memory of Elsa Hankins
August 9, 2015 — October 1, 2026
Elsa Hankins, lovingly known as Baby Girl, was so much more than a beloved dog to her parents, Don and Lynn Hankins. She was their daughter, their faithful companion, and their protector. Born in Lugoff on August 9, 2015, to The Rosegarden Dachshund, Johnnie Judy, Elsa spent more than eleven wonderful years making sure everyone knew exactly how special she was.
Elsa loved her stuffed squirrel, which was fitting for a girl who absolutely loved chasing real squirrels. She was also always ready to help clean up anything that accidentally fell from the table, although ham was definitely at the top of her list.
Elsa especially adored her dad, Don. Her favorite place in the world was curled up in his lap while he sat in his recliner—and as far as Elsa was concerned, Don belonged to her. She wasn’t particularly interested in sharing him either. If someone tried to hug him, Baby Girl made sure they knew she had something to say about it!
Elsa also believed that anyone who came to the house was obviously there to see her. Everyone had to stop and pet her before going about their business. When she wasn’t welcoming visitors, she could often be found sitting by the front door, watching outside and guarding the home and family she loved.

But Elsa wasn’t only their protector in spirit—she truly saved Don’s life. One day, when Don was lying in bed with dangerously low blood sugar, Elsa knew something wasn’t right. She began barking until Lynn came to check on him. Her devotion and instinct helped protect the person she loved most when he needed her.
Elsa was their Baby Girl in every sense of the word. She loved fiercely, protected faithfully, and made herself an irreplaceable part of Don and Lynn’s lives.
Forever their daughter. Forever their protector. Forever loved and missed, Baby Girl. 🐾🤍
